Read: City of Regina doing the right thing
REGINA, SK: The Canadian Taxpayers Federation (CTF) announced its support today for the vote “NO” side in the upcoming wastewater referendum. The CTF made the announcement at city hall.
“It’s quite simple, vote NO and you can save yourself loads of money,” said CTF Prairie Director Colin Craig. “If you sit on your butt on referendum day and don’t vote NO then don’t complain when your utility bill skyrockets.”
The CTF’s support comes after having an opportunity to read through city reports on the P3 and discussing the matter with the Mayor last week. The report shows that taxpayers can save $276 per year during the first few years by adopting the P3 model that was approved unanimously by city council.
The CTF will be sending an email to all its supporters in Regina, urging them to vote “NO.”
“We supported the decision to hold a referendum as it seemed like the organizers followed the rules,” added Craig. “However, we’re on the other side of the issue when it comes to the P3. The bottom line is the city is trying to save taxpayers money and we think that’s a good thing.”
